POIdo is a location-based advertising (LBA) platform providing location and context-based ads on mobile phones, portable navigation systems and internet sites using customer location information.
Ads are shown based on information about the user’s location and context. The user sees the message when approaching a virtual billboard or as a result of searching for a nearby address.
Advertisers compete for ad lots, since a user sees only the most efficient ads on a given field.
Auctions and ad-base updates for online sites take place online, while the updates for offline devices happen during map updates.
High response rate
Response to location-based ads can easily hit 20%, far higher than in other systems. The high response happens because POIdo ads are only shown to potentially interested users who are already located close to the virtual billboard. As a result, the user treats these ads as a free additional service instead of considering them spam.
Advantages of competition
POIdo (both websites and mobile apps) simultaneously shows a limited number of ads for any specific location. If the number of ads exceeds the limit the user will see only the most effective ads; that means advertisers must compete for the right to show their ads assuring the winners that there will not be so many ads the customer feels spammed. For online ad sites the auction and ad updates happen in real-time mode, while for offline ad sites updates take place during map updates (once a week, month or quarter).
Ad diversity
Advertisers can launch both online and offline campaigns, using different ad sites. Depending on the type of device there are various ways to display the ads:
- On a screen with a map as a text (static or crawling), or a virtual billboard (a digital analogue of a big board outside);
- On an address search page or any other text or graphic page of an application as text, crawler, banner or logo;
- As a static or interactive object opening a pop-up window with a description of the advertised object and action options. For example: call (with a phone number), order a service, add to tabs, see the next level of info.
Ad campaign administration
POIdo advertisers, partners and agencies have a convenient management system to place virtual billboards, watch competitor’s actions, set the ad display range depending on price per user action. Such parameters as place and time of ad display and price are also easily editable.
